Delete your CaHk account
This page explains how to delete your CaHk account, and what is erased and what is kept when you do.
How to delete your account (in the app)
- Sign in to CaHk, in the mobile app or at cahk.ca.
- Open Settings.
- Scroll to Delete account at the bottom of the page.
- Type the confirmation word shown, then confirm.
Deletion takes effect immediately. It is not queued for approval, and it cannot be undone.
If you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to your account — a forgotten password, or an email address you can no longer reach — email [email protected] from the address you registered with and ask us to delete the account. We will verify and action it for you.
What is deleted
- your email address and other personal details (your username is kept);
- your password and all sign-in credentials;
- your two-factor authentication setup;
- every signed-in device — all sessions end and the account can never sign in again;
- your followed categories, saved threads, notification settings, and push subscriptions;
- your notification history and your block list.
What is kept
- Threads, replies, and your username remain, with the account marked deleted — deleting your account does not break the public discussions you took part in.
- The account itself becomes a retained record — keeping your username but no email, contact details, or other identifying data — kept indefinitely so threads, votes, and moderation records stay coherent.
- Moderation records are retained: deleting your account does not undo the consequences of a breach of the Terms.
- Notifications your activity generated may remain as summaries in other members’ notification lists until those members clear them.
If your username contains your real name or other personal information, email [email protected] and we will remove it after verifying your identity.
Retention periods
- IP addresses recorded on sign-in: erased after at most 90 days.
- Backups: data disappears from these only as they rotate.
- Because the Platform is public and indexed by search engines, copies of what you posted may survive elsewhere after deletion. We can remove content from the Platform, but we cannot control copies others have already made.
See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for detail. Questions: [email protected].
